Round rugs are like a sunflower in a field of daisies. They are bold, unexpected, and somehow make the space more interesting. However, they are harder to place and difficult to decorate. So, people tend to avoid those altogether.

But circle rugs are statement pieces. They convey that you are open to adapting to new things and bold enough to accept challenges. If placed correctly, these rugs give a different vibe altogether.

The most obvious placement is below a circular table. These should ideally be big enough to accommodate all legs of the round table. If it’s a dining table, then try to get one big enough to accommodate the chairs as well. When pulled backwards, the hind legs of the chair should be on the rug.

A more interesting way to place a round rug is to balance all the sharp corners and straight lines. Your room goes from feeling cold and structured to warm and welcoming. It works better than you could imagine. You can even layer a round rug on top of a large rectangular rug.

Try placing a round rug beside your bed instead of the usual runner. Or put one in your kid’s room to assign a dedicated play area. Put your centerpiece on a circular rug and place the seating arrangement around it. For wide entryways, a round rug with a decor piece in the center gives a well-decorated look.

While selecting the size, make sure that there’s enough room between the furniture and the outer lining of the rug. Otherwise, the rug might not be visible under the furniture. To make it more interesting, go for gradients and ombre effects. They look stunning because your eye follows the circular shape naturally.

Round rugs can handle bold designs that would overwhelm rectangular spaces. That dramatic medallion pattern or intricate mandala design gets showcased properly instead of competing with angular furniture.
